In Roman mythology, the glorious city of Rome was founded by the twin brothers Romulus and Remus. According to the legend, the twins were raised by a wolf after they were cast away by their parents. As adults, both brothers proved to be great leaders and as a result they felt the need to establish their own settlement. However, they could not agree on the location of their new settlement and their dispute led to the murder of Remus by his own brother. And so, the new settlement was named after Romulus, and the city of Rome was born.

The checkered print symbolizes the two brothers, with black and white emphasizing their duality, their competitiveness and their blood feud.
